It’s the time when I look back on the passive income of the previous year and report it to you – lovely readers. I started it with the passive income of the year 2023.

2024 was good. The passive income earned was also 4X of last year. All the sources but the profit part gave almost the same.

What I said about the goose that lays golden eggs? This passive income is that egg for me. Better have your own goose!

Interest Income

Interest earned by my emergency or war chest fund or the miscellaneous f**k you money are included in this category.

They are spread across various savings accounts of the banks in Bhutan as per my convenience and interest rates.

In 2024, income from this category is Nu.33,391.58 which is about 9% of total passive income for the year.

I was intending to keep more cash in my portfolio at the beginning of the year to increase the interest income as well.

However, due to my career break and then living on my savings I couldn’t do as I expected. It increased just by a 10%.

Commission

This is the income I earned as sales commission from sale of insurance policies of Royal Insurance Corp of Bhutan Ltd.

Since I haven’t added new client and a few existing clients canceled their policies, my commission decreased this year.

Last year I earned Nu. 24,097.64. But this year it’s Nu. 15,678.16 – a 35% reduction – Nu. 8,419.48 less!

I don’t intend to hunt for clients as well. But if you come to me for it, I will do it for you. Let me know in the comment.

Dividend Income

Dividend received from those companies present in my portfolio is put in this passive income class.

In 2024, the dividend income is Nu. 96,858.23 – 45% of the total passive income. It’s 10% increase from last year.

This year six counters present in my stock investment portfolio declared dividend.

Since I have reduced the number of counters in my stock portfolio, it will definitely decrease in coming years.

Profit Income

This is the highest contributor in the total passive income this year. Since I had to sell or re-balance few counters, I could harvest it.

All the profit is from the sales proceeds, after deducting purchase values and broker commission.

The profit is Nu.207,124.09 – 55.5% of an overall total passive income of the year 2024. I want to reduce this next year.

In coming years, I want to trade in Bhutan Stock Market. It won’t be 100% passive but will impact my overall profit.

Other Sources

In this passive income class, I would include sales proceeds of my bonus shares or unsubscribed right issues.

Since I have adjusted all bonus shares with the purchase values it’s sales proceed of my PCAL right shares.

I didn’t subscribe to the right shares of PCAL. They sold it during an open public auction of unsubscribed right shares.

Conclusion

It’s said that world’s rich people would usually have at least seven income streams – mostly passive.

Ap Warren Buffett has more than 90 income streams. If I were to become rich, I need to increase mine as well.

You realized that I have only 5 – active income of salary being out. If I am not on a career break, it would be six – not too bad!

The total passive income of 2024 is Nu. 373,201.06 which on an average is Nu. 31,100.09/month and Nu. 1,022.47/day.

This passive income alone places me ahead of Bhutan poverty zone, and also the minimum daily wage of Bhutan.
