Sangay Tshering popularly known as Mr.Black made Nu.1,200,000.00 in a TikTok Live game that lasted for 5 minutes.

It must be true as he himself has personally told in one of the live shows. It’s also all over social media.

It is a great earning by any standard – Nu.4,000 per second. It is a return for his efforts in building followers, and driving engagements.

Though many social media users congratulated him, there are also many who think he made a mistake by making it public.

People will come to him talking about their problems, and asking him to help them. People’s motive of talking to him will boil down to his money, mostly.

It Invited an Income Tax

Nu.1,200,000 is an annual income of top 1% personal income tax payers in Bhutan. It’s within a 25% tax bracket.

If we assume he doesn’t have other deductions, he must pay Nu.300,000 as an income tax next year.

Because Mr. Black made it public himself, our Department of Revenue & Custom (DRC) will keep track of him.

Income tax on online earnings in Bhutan

If he doesn’t file the tax on time, the penalty is hefty. The worse he might be charged for a tax evasion crime.

However, if we refer the Income Tax Act of Bhutan such earnings doesn’t fall under any of the taxable income class.

Does it mean Mr.Black won’t have to bear income tax? I am not sure. DRC might come up with another class of taxable income source.
