This month RSEBL rolled out the direct trading features in its MCaMs App to incorporate an initiative of BLA investment.

Bhutanese living abroad (BLA) can directly trade shares without involving brokers now. It’s to boost the forex remittances.

BNBL launched Visa credit card portal. Customers can now check details like due dates/status of their credit cards online.

The liquidation procedures of Druk Satair Corporation Ltd had come to an end with an exit price of Nu.14.26 per share.

Just like I wrote about it when they first announced the liquidation, an exit price of DSCL is sadly low.

People who invested in it especially those who did it towards the end lost a large portion of their investment money.

This is a parcel of stock investing. So, it’s important to spread our eggs in more baskets and not keep just in one.

These are a few highlights. So, let us now review the overall performance of the Bhutan stock market and CD’s portfolio this October.

How Was the Stock Market of Bhutan?

Total Trade Value

This October month, the total trade volume of the Bhutan stock market is Nu.62.96M – Nu.19.12M via mCaMS app and Nu.43.84M OTC.

We can see that the OTC trade is more by Nu.24.72M this month. It’s 70% of the total trade.

The overall trade volume is also lower than last month. The online trades volume separately is also lower.

I expected higher with the start of a direct trading initiative for Bhutanese living abroad (BLA) during the month.

214 users traded shares via m-CaMS whereas 139 users traded over the counter (OTC).

Benchmark Index

Our benchmark index started the month with 1,384.30 points. It gradually increased until 1,394.30 in the first week.

Since the second week, it slowly dropped. But the biggest drop was from 11th to 17th Oct losing more than 20 points.

In overall, BSI showed downward trend. It lost 20.45 points which means Bhutan stock market was quite volatile this month.

Individual Stocks

This October month, only 4 tickers ended down in red, 9 ended green and remaining 5 tickers remained unchanged.

This time, BIL gained the most by Nu. 05.88 whereas STCB lost the most by Nu. 23.84.

DWAL also closed lower by Nu. 18.31. And SVL still traded below its face value. Yet didn’t lose much.

Did I Make Changes in Total Holdings?

BUY

This October, I made additions of Nu.10,627.22 in three companies; BNB, TBL and DWAL.

Bhutan stock purchases Oct 2023

The additions were 100 shares of BNBL at Nu.29.72, 50 of TBL at Nu. 41 and then 100 of DWAL at Nu.110 per share.

The addition value is Nu.10,164.55 if I don’t include 1% broker fees. Just like last month, majority is in DWAL.

SELL

I haven’t sold any counter this October. Actually, I want to reduce the no. of tickers in my stock portfolio. But I will do in bullish months.

How CD’s Stock Portfolio Performed?

CD Stock Portfolio in Oct 2023

6 counters in my portfolio are below their purchase prices. But 5 of them are still positive. The biggest gainer is BIL.

The unrealized profit this month is Nu. 403,928.64 and unrealized loss of Nu. 88,778.78.

The above graph represents monthly net unrealized profit. It’s the record lowest in past six months.

The Month’s Lessons & Future Plans?

There were blocks of DWAL sell orders for the past few months. It really pushed down the price from the record Nu.158.

When the price came way down, those sell orders were re-called. I could manage to add some at Nu.110 – its record low in 2023!

I have purchased it at Nu.158 as well. If I have purchased all at that price, probably I won’t be smiling now even to my wife.

This is how to spread out our investment capital across different periods to avoid getting in at their peaks.

We never know if it will come down as well. But I have placed a buy order at Nu.100 as it was quite volatile last few weeks.
